Meet Our Opponent: Niagara 1812
Niagara 1812 is making its debut in the NPSL this season. Led by Lucio Ianiero, a former Canadian Men’s National Team player with extensive coaching experience, this team is set to bring a fresh challenge. Niagara 1812 will play their home matches at D’Youville University in Buffalo, New York. Their roster, featuring players from both sides of the US-Canada border, adds an intriguing dynamic to the matchup. The name "Niagara 1812" is a nod to the War of 1812, reflecting the historical significance of the local region, which was shaped by events on both sides of the United States and Canadian border.
Club Notes
Cleveland SC, under the leadership of Head Coach Joe Jovanovski, will have a broader selection of players for this match, some of whom were unavailable in the season opener. This expanded roster gives Jovanovski more strategic options and the ability to field a stronger team against Niagara 1812. With key players returning, Coach Jovanovski is particularly focused on maintaining the team's defensive solidity while enhancing their attacking threat. His goal is to capitalize on this depth and versatility to secure a second consecutive win and build momentum early in the season.
