Match Preview: Cleveland SC vs Niagara 1812

Everything to know as Cleveland SC returns home to take on Niagara 1812

Cleveland SC vs Niagara 1812 at George Finnie Stadium Match Preview

Berea, Ohio — Following a two-game road trip in upstate New York, Cleveland SC will return home to George Finnie Stadium on Saturday to take on another club from New York in Niagara 1812.

The trip north for Cleveland ended with some very solid results, as the first game was a 0-0 draw against Rochester NY FC, but the second game was the second victory of the year for the club, as they defeated the Buffalo Stallions for the second time this season by a final score of 2-1.

That second game against Buffalo proved that the 3-0 win over the Stallions to open the season was no fluke, as Cleveland rallied back from being down 1-0 in the first half to take the win.

With the Stallions getting on the board first, Cleveland was able to tie the game just minutes later with a goal from Luca Piazza, who has been phenomenal in his first couple of games with the club, before another goal from Gabe Glotting would put the squad up heading into the half.

Cleveland was able to hold onto that lead for the remainder of the game, earning another big three points once the full-time whistle blew.

With the first road trip of the season out of the way, the club looks to keep the momentum rolling this Saturday against another foe from New York in Niagara 1812.

Niagara has not been as fortunate as Cleveland to begin the season, as the club is on a three-game losing streak after toppling Rochester 2-0 in the season opener.

The club has scored just one goal during this three-game stretch, as they have been outscored 11-1 during the losing streak.

The defense for Niagara has been worrying, as the 11 goals allowed this season is already the worst in the Great Lakes Conference.

Cleveland meanwhile, will be looking to build on momentum and keep its streak of not losing a match going. The offensive output from the squad should favor Cleveland come match time, as they have scored five goals in three games compared to Niagara’s three goals in four games.

As for the defense of Cleveland, it has been rock solid, earning two clean sheets to open the season before allowing just one lone goal in the first half in the most recent game against Buffalo.
