Cleveland SC Earns Road Point in 1-1 Draw with Ambassadors FC Ohio
CANTON, OH — In a hard-fought Ohio Derby on a rain-slicked turf field, Cleveland SC battled to a 1-1 draw against Ambassadors FC Ohio on Wednesday evening at Malone University’s King Field. Despite trailing early, a second-half equalizer from Tamas Nagy and a resilient defensive effort helped Cleveland secure a valuable point away from home in Matchday 3 of the NPSL season.
The match opened with intensity as Cleveland’s Uleto Fuentes was shown a yellow card in just the 3rd minute, setting the tone for a physical night. Ambassadors FC struck first in the 14th minute, when midfielder Aiden Eck pounced on a rebound and slotted it past Cleveland goalkeeper Zoltan Nagy to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
Nagy responded just minutes later with a key stop in the 20th minute, denying the Ambassadors a second goal and keeping Cleveland within striking distance. From that point on, Cleveland SC began to settle in and dominate possession, controlling the tempo through their midfield and patiently building in the attacking third.

The breakthrough came midway through the second half when Tamas Nagy unleashed a stunning strike from nearly 30 yards out. The long-range effort leveled the match at 1-1 and gave the visitors a much-needed spark.
Cleveland continued to push forward with momentum on their side, creating two golden chances in the 72nd and 77th minutes. Both opportunities came with an open net, but the shots went off target, allowing the Ambassadors to hang on and preserve the draw.
The closing stages of the match became increasingly physical as Ambassadors' midfielders Kyle Spodnik and Omar Najjar were both shown yellow cards.

While Cleveland SC will feel they left potential points on the table, the squad showed resilience and creativity in a tough road environment. The club sits in sixth position in the Great Lakes Conference and will look to build momentum as the standings begin to take shape.
Cleveland SC now turns its focus to a highly anticipated home opener at George Finnie Stadium this Saturday, May 31, where they’ll face off against a confident Erie Commodores side fresh off a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Stallions.
